Smart Driving Academy offers lessons across Oxford and the surrounding areas, including Cowley, Headington, Summertown, Wheatley, Kennington, Abingdon and nearby villages. We tailor lessons to the roads and test routes in these neighbourhoods and can pick you up from home, college or work within our coverage area.
Yes. We run intensive driving courses (sometimes called “crash courses”) designed to prepare you for your test over a shorter period, typically one to two weeks. These courses are ideal if you need to pass quickly for work or university and can commit to several hours of lessons each day.
They still cover the full DVSA syllabus and include mock tests and local test route practice.
Yes – we provide automatic driving lessons in Oxford alongside our manual tuition. All automatic lessons are taught by DVSA‑approved ADI instructors, and they’re ideal if you prefer a simpler driving experience or struggle with gear changes. Automatic cars are easier to handle in heavy city traffic, letting you focus on road positioning, observation and safe decision‑making.
Before Your Lesson – please ensure that you:
* Bring a valid GB/NI provisional or full driving licence
* Are aged 17 or over
* Can read a number plate from 21 metres (with glasses/contact lenses if needed, per DVSA regulations)
* Inform us in advance of any medical or health conditions that could affect safe drivingPayment Policy
* All lessons must be paid at least 48 hours in advance. A payment link will be provided at booking. Non-payment may result in cancellation of your appointment.Cancellations & Attendance Policy
* A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or changes
* Late cancellations, changes within 48 hours, or no-shows will be charged the full lesson fee
* Instructors will wait up to 10–30 minutes at pick-up. After that, it will be marked as a no-show
* If a pupil is not prepared to high DVSA test standard, or requests a location outside our coverage area, the instructor may decline or end the lesson.Using Your Own Car for a Driving Test
If you plan to use your own vehicle, ensure it meets all DVSA requirements and confirm with the DVSA. SDA Driving School cannot take responsibility for any issues relating to private vehicles.

40-45 hours: Average learners need this many hours to build confidence and pass - 10 hours: Can be a useful refresher if you have prior driving experience
